The 5th African Bioacoustics Community Conference 2026
This year the African Bioacoustics Community has the exciting opportunity to host our biennial conference in beautiful Kenya!
This year's conference is also a HYBRID event, allowing participants to attend and present remotely.
This year’s conference promises to be another fascinating and exciting event, with a diverse programme covering numerous research themes. We will hear from African and international scientists, including plenary talks from experts in the field. Talk themes include behaviour and biology, acoustic monitoring and conservation, physiology and evolution, ecoacoustics, advanced technology and methodology, citizen science and science communication.
There will be plenty of opportunities to learn and gain new skills during the conference, including the “Basics of Bioacoustics” special session, field recording workshops, and a Q&A session led by experts, early-career scientists, and students in the field. The final day of the conference will offer participants a choice of workshops covering central technologies and software in bioacoustics. There will also be the opportunity to express oneself creatively during an immersive sound journey and a painting workshop. Tapping into the mindful nature of the acoustic environment, we will connect to nature and ourselves through listening and painting what we hear
On the final evening, we will gather for the Final Banquet event, where we can reflect and connect one last time over a scrumptious, traditional feast, followed by music entertainment.
